Emma Elkins
Hi all. My name is Emma Elkins and I am an Integrative Health Coach. I studied Health Coaching through the Institute for Integrative Nutrition in New York and graduated in March 2017. I am a firm believer that integrating positive lifestyle choices and what you put into your body has a HUGE impact on a persons longevity and well-being.
I have always had a passion for fitness and food. I enjoyed a loving and balanced childhood as an only child.
My parents worked full time and they both shared the cooking in our house with 90% of our meals being home made from scratch and with fresh ingredients. My Mum was an opera singer and loved Italian/Mediterranean food. My Dad could cook too and made a mean curry! We often ate a traditional sunday roast accompanied with wine - my parents had a very healthy respect for alcohol. My childhood was idyllic with lots of love, laughter and music - always music :)

However, my adulthood was far from those days. I have experienced the joy of raising 4 children and worked through the pitfalls of divorce and the trials of being a single parent. Regretably I then became involved in a verbally and mentally abusive relationship that nearly cost me the love and respect of my 3 sons and close friends. The trauma of this relationship had a massive impact on my mental and physical health. I experienced anxiety, shame, terror and many sleepless nights. I felt guilt at my children witnessing this violence and it impacted ALL my extended family in ways I never imagined. I tormented myself with questions like How could this happen to me? Why can't I get out of this relationship? I was so broken and I didn't recognise myself. I was so far away from the happy child of my younger years and something had to change.

Heartbreakingly both my parents passed away during this awful time - my Mum from Ovarian Cancer in 2009 and my Dad unexpectedly and unexplainably to heart failure 18 months later. The grief was consuming coupled by the abuse and daily degradation. I knew then that I had to do something about it . I thankfully sought counselling and was able to completely remove this tormentor from my life. I made it through. But, it was hard work. I thankfully had a great deal of support from friends, however, many people don't have that. I am so grateful for the wonderful happy life I managed to recreate for myself and my children. I live in Brisbane with 2 of my 4 children (my big boys are away working) and my very respectful and kind partner. Our home is now filled with happiness, laughter and love, homemade meals and
music again - oh and Macy the mini dachshund!
It is these (and many other) life experiences that led me to become a health coach - I just want everyone to feel as happy as I do. I know it's possible to achieve because I've done it. I'm a very practical person who thinks outside the box. My job as a Health Coach is not to judge but to guide, motivate and support you to reach attainable goals. Everyone deserves to live a happy healthy life and I truly believe I can help people achieve this.

The first step in creating yourself a healthier body and life is by booking an appointment to meet me :)
This is a 50 minute session where we look at your health concerns and goals. Before this session I would email you a Health History form to fill out and return before we meet so I can gauge what may be contributing to your health issues.
This session is also beneficial for you to get to know me and wether you think I'm the best Health Coach for you - it also lets me know if your ready to commit to creating yourself a healthy body and lifestyle.
Basically, we'll have a cuppa and talk for 50 minutes about how amazing you are - it's not scary!

What is a Health Coach? Someone who can help you to feel happy, energised and in peak health.
You are given one body and one life and you are meant to be happy. My job as your Health Coach is to help you achieve this happiness through ongoing support while educating you on the benefits of integrating nutritional and lifestyle changes to you - ones that are sustainable and based on your individual needs and goals.

I do this by providing you with guidance on foods, ways of eating, exercise, lifestyle and product choices plus information. I am your non-judgemental support person and guide. I work with each client based on "Bio-Individuality" - one way of eating does NOT suit everyBODY, neither does one type of exercise or one type of lifestyle - we are all biologically individual and this is very important to acknowledge. Please know that it is never too late to make changes to your life - NEVER. No matter how bad you 'think' things are there is always a way forward.

I am extremely passionate about my job as a health coach. Our body is the most complex computer that exists on the planet and is extremely intuitive. My life's aim is to educate as many people as possible on getting the most out of their bodies so each and every person can fully enjoy this wonderful world and all it has to offer - and that you are happy.
